getFont is a Chrome extension that allows users to extract and download fonts from websites. This privacy policy explains how the extension handles data and what information, if any, is collected or stored.

Data Collection & Usage

getFont does NOT collect or store any personal data. Specifically:

• No Personal Information: We do not collect names, email addresses, or any other contact details.
• No Browsing History: We do not track or store your browsing history or the websites you visit.
• No Tracking: We do not use cookies, web beacons, or any other tracking technologies.
• No Analytics: We do not use third-party analytics services to track your usage of the extension.
• No External Transmission: No data is ever transmitted from your browser to our servers or any third-party servers.

How the Extension Works

getFont operates entirely within your browser:

• Font Detection: When you activate the extension, it scans the current webpage's CSS stylesheets to identify font declarations (@font-face rules)
• Local Processing: All font extraction, conversion, and download operations happen locally on your device
• No External Communication: The extension does not send any data to external servers or services

Permissions

getFont requires the following Chrome permissions to function:

• activeTab: Allows the extension to access and read the CSS of the webpage you're currently viewing. This is necessary to detect and extract font information. The extension only accesses the active tab when you click the extension icon.
• scripting: Allows the extension to inject content scripts into the current webpage to scan stylesheets and extract font URLs. This happens only on the active tab and only when you use the extension.
• downloads: Allows the extension to download the extracted font files directly to your computer's downloads folder.

These permissions are used solely for font extraction and download functionality and nothing else.

Local Data Storage

The extension stores minimal preference data locally on your device using Chrome's localStorage API:

• Your display preferences (show/hide preview text, show/hide URLs)
• Custom preview text
• Preview text size preference
• Dark mode preference
• View mode preference (list/grid)

This data never leaves your device and is only used to remember your settings between sessions. You can clear this data at any time by removing the extension or clearing your browser data.

Downloaded Fonts

When you download fonts using getFont:

• Fonts are downloaded directly from the website you're viewing to your computer
• We do not intercept, store, or have access to the downloaded font files
• Format conversions (e.g., WOFF to TTF) are performed locally in your browser
• No font data is sent to external servers

Third-Party Services

getFont does not use any third-party services, including:

• No analytics services (Google Analytics, etc.)
• No advertising networks
• No external APIs
• No crash reporting services

The extension includes two open-source libraries that run entirely within your browser:

• OpenType.js: For font parsing and format conversion (local processing only)
• JSZip: For creating ZIP files of multiple fonts (local processing only)

Data Disclosure

Since we do not collect any data, we do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your information to outside parties. We do not share any data with third parties because we simply do not have any of your data.

Security

Since getFont does not collect or transmit any data, there are no data security risks associated with using the extension. All operations occur locally within your browser's secure environment.

Children's Privacy

getFont does not collect any data from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The extension is safe for users of all ages as it operates entirely offline.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in the extension or legal requirements. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

Your Rights

Since we do not collect any personal data, there is no data to access, modify, or delete. However, you can:
